How we use cookies
We use cookies and similar tools so the site can load, stay secure, and, where we enable them, help us see which pages are useful. We do not use cookies on this site to build an advertising profile or to retarget you across the web.

Types of cookies
Essential
Required for core behaviour: loading pages, security, remembering that you sent a form, or storing a cookie-consent choice if we add one. The site cannot work properly without these.
Preferences
Used to remember a choice you made, such as a dismissed notice, so we do not ask again on every visit.
Analytics
If we enable privacy-respecting analytics, these cookies (or similar) help us understand aggregate traffic: which pages are read, roughly from where, and whether something is broken. They are not used to sell ads. We will update this policy if we add a named analytics provider.
Marketing
We do not currently set advertising or retargeting cookies on this website.

Third-party cookies
Pages may load fonts, video, or maps from other companies. Those companies can set their own cookies under their own policies. If we embed a third-party player or similar, treat that provider’s cookie notice as applying to that embed.
Hosting and content-delivery networks may also set technical cookies needed to serve the site quickly and safely.

Blocking all cookies usually also disables features that depend on them. It does not stop every kind of logging our host may still do (for example, a server access log).
